Recycling in the church is a fairly simple step a congregation can take on the road to better environmental stewardship. It can provide a tangible morale boost as people can see the effects of caring for creation throughout the building. It also shows others outside the church that you are concerned for the future well-being of the community and the world at large, which can alter the negative impressions that some have of the church on this topic.

Depending on the size of your building, it might make sense to have many smaller bins, or a large recycling container. Perhaps even both; you decide based on your needs.

In many cases, city governments or local organizations will even come and pick up recycled materials from you. Furthermore, some will even drop off recycling containers for you to use. Finding out what your local area offers might take a little bit of effort on your part, but it’s well worth it.
